Granit Xhaka has bid farewell to Arsenal as he embarks on a new chapter in his football career. The Swiss midfielder has officially joined Bayer Leverkusen in a highly anticipated €25 million deal. This move marks the end of Xhaka’s tenure as the the Gunners and his departure from the London club.
Xhaka’s time at Arsenal was met with both praise and criticism. The experienced midfielder arrived at the Emirates Stadium in 2016 from Borussia Monchengladbach and quickly became a key figure in the team. Known for his playing style, Xhaka brought strength and composure to the midfield, often dictating the tempo of the game and distributing the ball effectively.
During his tenure, Xhaka experienced several highs and lows. He played a pivotal role in helping Arsenal win the FA Cup in 2020, contributing significantly to the team’s success. However, he also faced challenges and found himself at the center of controversy on a few occasions, particularly when he clashed with fans during a match against Crystal Palace in 2019.
