According to a report from Diario Sport, FC Barcelona have decided not to renew Robert Lewandowski’s contract, with the Polish striker set to leave the club as a free agent in the summer of 2026.

Lewandowski, who joined Barcelona from Bayern Munich in 2022, has been one of the team’s most consistent performers since his arrival. The 36-year-old forward signed a four-year deal upon joining, which runs until June 2026. Despite being a key figure in attack, the club’s management reportedly believes that extending his stay beyond the current term would not align with their long-term sporting and financial plans.

The decision comes amid Barcelona’s ongoing efforts to lower their wage bill and rebuild the squad with younger talent. Lewandowski’s contract is one of the highest at the club, and while his professionalism and goal-scoring record are unquestioned, the Catalans appear keen to look toward the future.

Since arriving at Camp Nou, the Polish international has scored over 60 goals in all competitions and played a crucial role in helping Barcelona win La Liga and the Spanish Super Cup during the 2022–23 season. However, his performances have slightly dipped this campaign, sparking debates about his long-term role in Hansi Flick’s system.
