Liverpool head coach Arne Slot has hinted that the club could consider signing a new right-back following the injury suffered by Jeremie Frimpong during their emphatic 6-0 victory over Qarabag in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday night.

Frimpong was forced off in the early minutes of the match after picking up an injury, raising concerns about Liverpool’s defensive depth for the upcoming fixtures. Speaking after the game, Slot admitted that the Dutch defender is expected to be sidelined for a period of time and that the club will assess its options carefully.

“Frimpong will be out for a period of time, yes. We as a club always make smart decisions,” Slot said, as quoted by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano. The Liverpool boss also stressed that any move in the transfer market would be made with long-term planning in mind rather than as a short-term reaction.

“We look at the long term; we don’t have four right-backs and twelve number nines,” Slot added, suggesting that balance within the squad remains a key priority for the club’s recruitment strategy.

Despite Frimpong’s early exit, Liverpool showed no signs of slowing down as they dominated Qarabag with a ruthless attacking display. The Reds scored six unanswered goals to maintain their strong form in Europe and underlined their depth in attacking areas.
