Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has showered praise on academy sensation Max Dowman, describing the 15-year-old midfielder as a “gem” following his eye-catching performances in training and youth matches.

Dowman, who recently signed his scholarship contract with the Gunners, has also agreed to a professional deal that will take effect in 2026, a sign of Arsenal’s immense faith in his potential. Speaking about the youngster, Arteta expressed his admiration for the teenager’s talent and maturity beyond his years.

“Max Dowman is a gem! If I’m not gonna play him, that means I’m blind,” Arteta said. “When you look at Max Dowman in training, you have to play him, if not, you’re blind, or I’m blind! I know if you look at the passport, he’s 15… he’s just different!”

Arteta further emphasized Dowman’s passion for the club, revealing that the young midfielder and his family are devoted Arsenal supporters. “The feeling that I have is that, genuinely, Max loves it here. He’s a huge Arsenal supporter, and his family also,” Arteta added.

Dowman’s rapid rise through the ranks has not gone unnoticed. His technical ability, vision, and composure on the ball have drawn comparisons to some of Arsenal’s most promising midfielders in recent years.
