The Ligue 1 teams were playing in the domestic league named French Cup which is being played every year along with the main French league. Favourites Paris Saint-Germain got defeated by OM Marseille in the round of 16 game of this French Cup. As there was no leg in the round of 16 so PSG had no option but to move out of the competition.
Paris Saint-Germain were defeated by 2 goals to one by Marseille. The visitors tried hard to get back in the game but couldn’t do it. Former Manchester United and Arsenal’s winger Alexis Sanchez scored the first goal of the game and gave the lead to Marseille from the penalty spot.
Marseille led PSG by 1-0 in the 31st minute before former Real Madrid’s defender Sergio Ramos scored the equalising goal in the 45th minute.
The half time scoreline was 1-1 with no one winning. In the 57th minute, Malinovskyi scored the winner for Marseille and it was over for Paris Saint-Germain in the French Cup. Paris Saint-Germain had a chance to go to the next round but Marseille defended well after their winning goal till the end.
