It’s set to be an interesting summer transfer window for Manchester City. Despite not retaining their Champions League crown, the club had an incredible 2023/24 campaign. The summer transfer window officially opened on June 14, 2024, and will close on Friday, August 30.

New Arrivals

Savio from Troyes

City confirmed the signing of winger Savio from their sister club Troyes on July 18. The young talent has penned a five-year deal with City. According to the Manchester Evening News, the initial fee is £21 million, potentially rising to £33.6 million with add-ons. Savio expressed his excitement, saying, “I’m so happy to be joining Manchester City, the Premier League champions and Club World Cup winners. Everyone knows they are the best team in the world right now, so to be here is very exciting for me.”

Departures

Tommy Doyle to Wolves

Wolves confirmed on May 3 that Tommy Doyle would join them permanently on a four-year deal. Doyle spent last season on loan at Molineux and moved as part of the deal that saw Matheus Nunes join City. Wolves paid £4.3 million for Doyle.

Taylor Harwood-Bellis to Southampton

Taylor Harwood-Bellis also made his loan move to Southampton permanent after helping the team gain promotion. A clause in his loan deal was triggered, resulting in a £20 million transfer. Harwood-Bellis signed a four-year deal with Southampton on July 1.

Lewis Fiorini to Stockport County

Stockport County announced the signing of young midfielder Lewis Fiorini on July 2 for an undisclosed fee. Fiorini has signed a three-year deal with the League One side.

Sergio Gomez to Real Sociedad

City confirmed on July 12 that left-back Sergio Gomez had left the club for Real Sociedad. Gomez reflected on his time at City, saying, “Being part of such a talented, ambitious, and successful squad was a true honour. Winning major trophies, including the Treble, is something I will never forget.”

Liam Delap to Ipswich Town

Promising striker Liam Delap has left City for Ipswich Town after several loan spells. He signed a five-year deal, with the fee reportedly between £16 million and £20 million. Delap said, “I’m really excited. I have heard so many good things about the club. The Manager here likes to play exciting football. It’s quick and intense, and I am looking forward to that.”

Out on Loan

No players have been sent out on loan yet for the 2024/25 season.

Releases and Academy Signings

No senior City players are out of contract this summer, but there have been some releases at the academy level, including Jamal Baptiste and Josh Adam. No new academy signings have been made as of yet.
