According to credible reports, Manchester City have identified Bayer Leverkusen star Florian Wirtz as a potential replacement. The 20-year-old German attacking midfielder has been in scintillating form under Xabi Alonso, playing a key role in Leverkusen’s remarkable Bundesliga campaign.
Despite City’s interest, a deal for Wirtz won’t be easy. Leverkusen are reluctant to let go of their prized asset, and the player’s own preference for his next move remains unknown. City, however, are expected to push hard if they see him as De Bruyne’s long-term successor.
