Liverpool have made a major move in the transfer market by opening formal talks with Newcastle United for star striker Alexander Isak. The Reds submitted an official proposal worth £120 million plus add-ons, but Newcastle immediately turned it down, rejecting the bid.
Sources close to the deal reveal that Newcastle are not willing to entertain any negotiations unless they find a suitable replacement for Isak. Even if that happens, there is no guarantee the club will allow their prized forward to leave.
Liverpool, however, remain determined to secure the Swedish international and are planning to return with another approach. Isak has reportedly made his desire to join Liverpool clear, increasing the pressure on Newcastle.
Despite rumours about a potential new deal at St. James’ Park, no contract negotiations are currently taking place, fuelling further speculation. Arne Slot’s side view Isak as a key addition to strengthen their attack ahead of the upcoming season.
