Liverpool players will sign and donate match-worn shirts from the Emirate FA Cup against Norwich City in the fifth round-tie to the British Red Cross Ukraine Crisis Appeal, according to the official statement released by Liverpool. It shall be auctioned off by the Liverpool Football Club Foundation to raise money for the people of Ukraine to provide access to drinking water, vital supplies of food, first aid, medicines, warm clothes and shelter.
It is an emergency fund set up to provide for the Ukrainian people who are under life-threatening circumstances. The intensification of fighting in Ukraine has caused grave concerns all over the world and the British Red Cross along with other international and national organisations, have amplified their resources to the people losing their lives and homes.
In addition to the donation, the main stand at Anfield shall be lit in blue and yellow, the colour of the Ukrainian flag as a symbol of solidarity by the Reds.
The match shall be played against Norwich City tonight for the FA Cup, after the victory at Wembley against Chelsea, where the Reds won the Carabo Cup this season. The Cup had the highest in-home peak and average viewing figures on record for a League Cup final on Sky Sports.
