Lionel Messi has once again expressed his deep emotions about winning the FIFA World Cup with Argentina, calling it “the dream of my life” and admitting it was the only thing missing in his wonderful career.

In an interview with NBC Sports, the Argentine captain reflected on his journey, saying, “I was lucky enough to win everything, both at the individual and collective levels. I believe that winning this trophy is the dream of every player.”

Messi, who guided Argentina to their third World Cup title in Qatar in 2022, fulfilled a lifelong ambition that eluded him for years despite numerous personal and team accolades. The 37-year-old football legend lifted the coveted trophy after a dramatic final against France, cementing his legacy as one of the greatest players in the history of the sport.

However, Messi also addressed the question every football fan wants answered, will he play in the 2026 World Cup? The Inter Miami star admitted he hasn’t made a final decision yet but remains eager to contribute if he’s in top condition.

“Next World Cup? I’m eager… I would like to be there in good form and be an important part in helping my national team, if I am there,” Messi said. “I will evaluate this day by day when preseason starts with Inter Miami and see if I can really be 100%, if I can be useful to the group, to the national team, and then I will make a decision.”
