Real Madrid managers have adopted the 4-3-3 formation recently, and Carlo Ancelotti is no exception. In his second spell with the club, the Italian has predominantly used the system. Ancelotti appeared to be using a different tactic against Real Valladolid on Sunday. Real Madrid lined up in a 4-2-3-1 formation.

Real Madrid sealed all three points after putting themselves 4-0 up just over half an hour into their match against Real Valladolid. This kept their slim hopes of the La Liga title alive. Rodrigo opened the scoring for Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu after being set up by Marco Asensio. Since then, Karim Benzema has taken over the game.

In seven minutes, the former French international scored a hat trick to end the match. He seems to be back in form after having had a difficult season. For his first goal, Benzema was set up by Vinicius Jr, who received a superb Brazilian cross, allowing the 35-year-old to double Real Madrid’s lead with a powerful shot.

Eden Hazard was brought into the game for the first time in what seems like an eternity as he was allowed to impress for 25 minutes. Fellow substitute Jesús Vallejo then came close of all people but slipped and allowed the keeper to collect the ball. Marco Asensio made it 5-0 for his team with a neat finish on his muscular foot. Vázquez scored the sixth as Madrid committed men forward, allowing Hazard to play the Spaniard into a low finish past the keeper. Madrid won 6-0 without sweating.
