Mainoo is believed to have asked the club for a loan move this summer in search of regular game time. However, United are unwilling to sanction an exit until June 2026, as they consider him an important part of their long-term project.
The midfielder’s desire for more minutes stems from manager Ruben Amorim’s tactical approach, which currently doesn’t place Mainoo at the heart of his plans.
