Karim Benzema’s future at Al Ittihad has been thrown into uncertainty after the French striker admitted he could leave the Saudi Pro League club when his contract expires in June. The 2022 Ballon d’Or winner, who joined Al Ittihad from Real Madrid in 2023 amid major fanfare, is reportedly weighing his options ahead of the summer.

Speaking to AS, Benzema said he has not yet decided whether he will stay at the club beyond this season. “I don’t know if I’ll leave Al Ittihad or stay… my contract expires in June and depends on many factors,” he stated, indicating that his future could hinge on both sporting and personal considerations.

Benzema has endured a turbulent season in Saudi Arabia, facing injury setbacks, criticism over performances, and constant rumours linking him with a move away. He has previously been the subject of interest from European clubs as well as other Saudi teams, but no concrete agreement has been reached.

Despite joining Al Ittihad as one of the marquee signings of the league’s ambitious expansion project, the 36-year-old has found himself in the middle of a struggling campaign for the Jeddah-based club. Results have been inconsistent, and managerial changes have further added to the instability around the squad.
