Manchester City has reportedly agreed to sell Portuguese full-back Joao Cancelo to Saudi Arabian club Al Hilal in a deal worth over €35 million. This development comes as the transfer window nears its close, with Cancelo’s situation becoming increasingly urgent.
Cancelo, who spent last season on loan at Barcelona following a last-minute transfer, has been keen to secure a new club. Despite his hopes of returning to Barcelona, the Catalan giants do not view him as a priority, leaving his options limited.
Manchester City has been actively looking to offload Cancelo, and Al Hilal’s offer appears to be the most viable option. The Saudi club, looking to bolster their defense further, has shown serious interest in Cancelo. Their defense already includes notable players like Kalidou Koulibaly and Renan Lodi, and Cancelo would be a strong addition to their ranks.
For Barcelona, financial constraints have made it difficult to compete with Al Hilal’s offer. While Cancelo has expressed a desire to return to Barcelona, the club’s financial situation makes this move unlikely. Manchester City, on the other hand, is eager to finalize the deal, viewing Al Hilal’s offer as a lucrative opportunity for both the club and the player.
