Dinamo Zagreb have secured the signing of Algerian midfielder Ismael Bennacer from AC Milan. The deal, confirmed by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, has been finalized as a loan with an option to buy, with part of Bennacer’s salary being covered as part of the agreement. The player is also reported to be travelling to Croatia today to complete the transfer.
Bennacer, 26, has been a crucial figure for AC Milan since his arrival from Empoli in 2019. Renowned for his composure in possession, ball-winning ability, and tactical intelligence, the midfielder played a pivotal role in Milan’s 2021/22 Serie A title triumph. However, his recent seasons have been disrupted by injuries, limiting his game time at the San Siro.
For Dinamo Zagreb, this signing represents a major coup. The Croatian champions are aiming to strengthen their squad with experienced international talent as they continue to dominate domestically and push for greater success in European competitions.
Adding a player of Bennacer’s calibre, who has featured regularly in Serie A and the UEFA Champions League, is a significant statement of intent.
The loan deal also includes a buy option clause, giving Dinamo Zagreb the chance to make Bennacer’s stay permanent if he adapts well and delivers on expectations. For AC Milan, this move allows the club to reduce their wage bill while giving Bennacer the opportunity to regain form and consistency with more playing time.
