Wolverhampton Wanderers F.C. has recorded a victory with a 2-1 lead against Leceister City at Molineaux. The battle was tied after Ademola Lookman scored an absolute belter at the 41st minute.

Soon later, Neeves and Maddison went head to head outside the box leading to a foul call by the Wolves and City was awarded a free kick for Maddison to take. Despite all the 17 shots on target, Leicester City failed to secure the bag even though they evenly fought for it.

Daniel Podence, who won the man of the match, shot in with a daisy-cutter into the bottom left corner, at the 66th minute and sent Wolves all the way up to the table with only six points off the top four with two games in hand. But Leicester marks their worst ever streak since 2019 under Claude Puel along with the knocking out of the FA Cup by local rivals Nottingham Forest. The battle for the Champions League was once in question for the team but the two seasons of disappointing results are not the solution they are looking for.

Nevertheless, thanks to Podence, the Wolves were able to keep up a record this season of winning 12 of the 13 games in which they have scored, drawing the other one. Apart from the victory, there was also good news in the return of Pedro Neto, who has been out for 10 months with a major knee injury. Reuben Neeves in the post-match interview mentioned his return and wished him to give his best for the road down the league.

Neto couldn’t contribute to the scoresheet but he is certainly delighted to be back in the pack of wolves.
