Former Real Madrid’s star Karim Benzema has made comments regarding his decision to leave the club and also joining the Saudi side. Saudi Arabian side Al Ittihad signed Benzema a season ago and Benzema also explained why he chose the club instead of any other top European club.

Former Real Madrid superstar Karim Benzema has finally addressed his decision to leave the Spanish giants and join Saudi Pro League side Al Ittihad. The French striker, who departed Los Blancos after 14 incredible years, revealed that his choice was driven by his deep respect for the club.

Speaking about his departure, Benzema stated that he wanted to leave Madrid while still at the top and, more importantly, never wanted to face his former club as an opponent. “I wanted to leave Real Madrid on top, and I didn’t want to ever play against Real Madrid in my life,” Benzema said.

Despite interest from top European clubs, Benzema opted for a move to Al Ittihad, embracing a new challenge in Saudi Arabia. His signing was one of the most high-profile moves in the Saudi Pro League, joining other big names in the growing football project in the region.
