Moroccan playmaker Hakim Ziyech is set to return home, joining Wydad Casablanca on a free transfer. The deal has been agreed and finalized today, marking the beginning of a new chapter in the career of one of Morocco’s finest footballers.
Ziyech, 31, was available as a free agent after parting ways with Galatasaray, where he spent a brief spell in Turkey’s Süper Lig. Despite receiving multiple offers from clubs in Europe and the Middle East, the former Chelsea and Ajax midfielder has decided to return to his roots, joining one of Morocco’s most successful and historic clubs.
Born in the Netherlands to Moroccan parents, Ziyech rose to prominence with Ajax, dazzling fans with his creativity, vision, and trademark left foot. His impressive performances earned him a move to Chelsea in 2020, where he won the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Super Cup, and FIFA Club World Cup. However, his spell in England was inconsistent, leading to his move away from the Premier League in search of regular playing time.
