As Manchester City signed Gigio Donnarumma as a new goalkeeper from PSG, the questions asked is whether he will play in the Manchester Derby which is to be played on Sunday, 14th September. The manager Pep Guardiola was asked on this in the pre-game interview. Pep Guardiola didn’t clearly mention whether he is going to play him or not.
The move comes before the much-anticipated Manchester Derby on Sunday, 14th September, raising immediate questions about whether the 26-year-old will make his debut against rivals Manchester United.
When asked about Donnarumma’s chances of starting in the derby, Guardiola kept his cards close to his chest. “We will see. The market gave us a chance to take Gigio, he’s 26, incredible experience with big clubs and with the national team,” the City boss said.
While Guardiola praised Donnarumma’s pedigree, he stopped short of confirming his involvement in the derby. With Ederson still at the club and the derby being one of the most high-pressure fixtures of the season, Guardiola’s final decision remains to be seen.
