Former Premier League manager Graham Potter has expressed his openness to taking charge of the Swedish national football team, describing the opportunity as “fantastic” and revealing his deep affection for the country and its football culture.
Potter, who previously managed Brighton & Hove Albion, Chelsea, and West Ham United, has been without a managerial role since leaving Chelsea in April 2023. The English coach, widely regarded for his tactical intelligence and player development, has now hinted that a return to management could come on the international stage, specifically with Sweden, where his coaching journey first gained recognition.
“I’m open to anything where I feel I can help,” Potter said. “The job as manager for the Swedish national team is fantastic. I have feelings for Sweden. I love the country and I love Swedish football. I have a lot to be grateful for towards Swedish football.”
Potter’s coaching reputation began to rise during his successful stint with Östersunds FK between 2011 and 2018. He guided the club from Sweden’s fourth division to the top flight and even led them to Europa League qualification, famously defeating Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium in 2018.
