FC Barcelona have officially confirmed that midfielder Frenkie de Jong has signed a new long-term contract with the club, keeping him at the Spotify Camp Nou until June 2029. The new deal includes a massive €500 million release clause, reaffirming the club’s intent to keep one of their most influential players for the foreseeable future.

De Jong, who joined Barcelona from Ajax in 2019, has been a central figure in the team’s midfield, known for his composure, vision, and ability to dictate the tempo of play. The Dutch international has made over 200 appearances for the Catalan giants, becoming a cornerstone under various managers and a key part of Hansi Flick’s system.

Speaking after signing the extension, De Jong expressed his delight at continuing with the Blaugrana, “I’m super happy to stay at Barcelona and continue as part of this ambitious project,” he said.

Barcelona president Joan Laporta also attended the contract signing ceremony, symbolizing the club’s faith in De Jong as part of their long-term rebuilding plan. Despite past transfer speculation linking him with Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain, the 27-year-old’s commitment to Barcelona signals his confidence in the club’s direction and project.
