In a major boost for Aston Villa, goalkeeper Emiliano “Dibu” Martínez has decided to stay at the club, turning down a potential move to Turkey. Reports suggest that Galatasaray had shown serious interest in luring the Argentine shot-stopper, but the 32-year-old remains committed to the Premier League side.
The decision comes after Manchester United’s attempt to sign Martínez fell through earlier in the transfer window. With the Red Devils shifting their focus elsewhere, Villa were keen to retain their number one, and now they have their wish. According to Fabrizio Romano, Martínez has no intention of leaving England and is expected to continue as Villa’s first-choice goalkeeper heading into the World Cup season.
Martínez has been a crucial figure at Villa Park since joining from Arsenal in 2020, playing a key role in the club’s steady rise under Unai Emery. His leadership, commanding presence, and penalty-saving heroics have made him a fan favorite, while his international success with Argentina has further elevated his status.
Galatasaray’s interest was strong, but sources close to the player indicate that Martínez was never tempted by the move.
