Kazuyoshi Miura, who is 55 years old, broke the record is being the eldest player in the JFL. The previous JFL benchmark for the oldest player was 43 years old.

Miura has repetitively rewritten history books and shows no signs of slowing down. The veteran’s appearance garnered a record audience to an amateur league game, breaking the previous attendance record. The game attracted a record crowd of 4,620 people for Miura’s debut. The previous high attendance for a Suzuka club game was 1,308, which occurred in 2019.

Suzuka’sseason-opening in the JFL took place in Yokkaichi, Mie Prefecture.  Fans who came to witness Miura were not dissatisfied because he was chosen to the starting lineup. Even though Miura did not score, he featured 60 of the game’s 90 minutes. Suzuka defeated Rein Meer Aomori FC 2-0 after Miura was substituted off and his teammates scored two goals.

Miura is recognized as a soccer legend in Japan, having previously played for the national team. After Yokohama FC was relegated to the J.League’s J2 Division for the following season, he moved with Suzuka in January.
