Edouard Mendy has reached a verbal agreement with Al Ahli, the prominent Saudi Arabian football club, which will see the goalkeeper wearing their jersey for the upcoming season. The Senegalese shot-stopper, who rose to prominence with his impressive performances for Chelsea in recent years, is set to embark on a new chapter in his career.
Mendy’s journey to the top has been nothing short of remarkable. Born in France, the keeper initially played for clubs in the lower divisions of French football before making a name for himself at Reims in Ligue 1. His consistent displays and commanding presence between the sticks earned him a move to Chelsea in September 2020.
During his first season with the Blues, Mendy quickly established himself as the club’s first-choice goalkeeper, replacing the error-prone Kepa Arrizabalaga. His solid shot-stopping abilities, excellent positioning, and exceptional distribution played a crucial role in Chelsea’s success under the guidance of manager Thomas Tuchel.
