Manchester City’s new signing Gianluigi Donnarumma has expressed his delight at joining the Premier League champions ahead of the highly anticipated Manchester Derby on Sunday, 14th September.
The Italian goalkeeper, who made a surprise switch to Pep Guardiola’s side, revealed that playing under the City boss was a major factor in his decision.
“Man City always fascinated me! I’m very proud to join this club,” Donnarumma said. “Being coached by Pep Guardiola is the best thing that can happen to a football player. Pep really wanted me… I’m proud of that, it’s something fantastic.”
The former PSG and AC Milan shot-stopper also set his sights on making history at the Etihad. “I want to make history at Man City… win Champions League and many titles. This club, just incredible,” he added.
With City preparing to face arch-rivals Manchester United at the Etihad Stadium, Donnarumma’s arrival adds an extra layer of intrigue to Sunday’s derby clash.
