On Sunday, defending champions Liverpool outplayed and outclassed Marcelo Bielsa’s men in front of their home crowd by winning 3-0 in what proved to be an entertaining performance shown by Liverpool FC. The first half of the game started with some frantic pace as they were more intensity with both sides coming very close to score their opening goal. The fans went wild with Leeds attacking possession as they kept silencing the Liverpool fans all around the stadium. Leeds almost came close to scoring before Allison saved a shot from Rodrigo’s strike. Liverpool as well came close with Diego Jota’s shot only for a fine save by IIlan Meslier of Leeds.

On the 20th minute, Liverpool opened their account with Trent Alexander Arnold giving a beautiful cross right across only for Mohammed Salah to tap in the goal. Mohammed Salah created history by scoring 100 goals for his side and being the fastest winger in the history of football to do it. He adds himself to the elite book of records after his splendid performance. The first half ended with 1-0 as the home team came close to score.
The second half started beautifully for Liverpool again as they kept dominating their possession as Leeds had to hang out to get a touch of the ball. Soon, Liverpool was 2-0 as Fabinho bundled home from close range following a corner. On the 58th minute, there was a moment of shock and utter silence as Harvey Elliot suffered a horrible injury after he broke his leg after a challenge by Pascal Struijk.
The 18-year-old midfielder was later taken on a stretcher as the fans prayed and hoped for his recovery. Struijk was also shown a red card by referee Craig Pawson for that challenge as they were down to 10 men.
Liverpool ended the match with another goal as Sadio Mane firing a low effort having missed a lot of shots previously throughout the game. It was assisted by Thiago as the match was won by Liverpool 3-0.
Liverpool will now play against Crystal Palace in Anfield on Saturday meanwhile Leeds United travel to play against Newcastle United on Saturday.
