Chelsea are reportedly preparing a significant summer move as they line up a €50 million bid for Barcelona’s young midfielder Marc Casado. The news was first reported by Sportskeeda Football, who also shared a digitally edited image of Casado in a Chelsea shirt on their official social media account.
Casado, has long been regarded as one of the most promising midfielders to emerge from Barcelona’s famed La Masia academy. However, he has struggled to cement a regular spot in the first-team under Xavi, often finding himself on the fringes of the squad. Despite limited playing time, his technical ability, composure on the ball, and tactical intelligence have attracted the attention of several top European clubs.
Chelsea, who have been investing heavily in young talent under owner Todd Boehly, appear to see Casado as a player who fits their long-term project. The Blues’ midfield has undergone several changes in recent seasons, with the departures of experienced players and the presence of youngsters like Enzo Fernández and Moisés Caicedo. Bringing in Casado would further strengthen their depth and future prospects in central midfield.
The reported €50 million price tag may raise eyebrows, given Casado’s limited senior experience. However, Chelsea have shown in recent windows that they are willing to pay premium fees for players with potential rather than established stars.
