Chelsea and Man United, both were interested in him but as Champions League football is at stake, Delap is most likely to prefer Chelsea over United. Delap, who joined Ipswich last summer on loan from Manchester City, made headlines with his consistent displays throughout the campaign. His ability to trouble Premier League defences has not gone unnoticed, attracting interest from several clubs, including Manchester United.
However, Chelsea appear to be leading the race, with the promise of Champions League football next season playing a key role in Delap’s decision. While Manchester United were keen to bring him in, the lack of European football at Old Trafford may work in Chelsea’s favour.
