Chelsea are in talks to sign Liam Delap from Ipswich Town after his brilliant performance in the Premier League this season (just ended). Ipswich has been relegated from the league and now there’s a strong opportunity for other clubs to make an approach for him. Chelsea and Man United, both were interested in him but as Champions League football is at stake, Delap is most likely to prefer Chelsea over United. The blues are already closing in on the deal as per Fabrizio Romano.
Chelsea have opened talks to sign young striker Liam Delap from Ipswich Town following his standout performances in the recently concluded Premier League season. According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the Blues are edging closer to securing a deal for the young forward, who impressed with his pace, strength, and eye for goal despite Ipswich’s relegation from the top flight.
Delap, who joined Ipswich last summer on loan from Manchester City, made headlines with his consistent displays throughout the campaign. His ability to trouble Premier League defences has not gone unnoticed, attracting interest from several clubs, including Manchester United.
However, Chelsea appear to be leading the race, with the promise of Champions League football next season playing a key role in Delap’s decision. While Manchester United were keen to bring him in, the lack of European football at Old Trafford may work in Chelsea’s favour.
