PSG in the City of Marselle will have to keep a low profile on the grandest of the night’s in their club history as the local Police on Thursday said that they would ban the club’s shirts in some areas due to the Champions league Finals which is set to take place on Sunday in Lisbon.

PSG face the German giants Bayern Munchen in the Champions league Finals attempting to become the second French Team to win European Finals after Marseille who won controversially in 1993.

The Bouches-du-Rhone Police confirmed on Thursday that they intend the ban on Sunday from 15.00 local time in afternoon till 03.00 in the morning of Monday, the historic Old port which have bars that telecast the matches and PSG supporters were spotted wearing team shirts during the Semi Finals against RB Leipzig.

Tensions between  the fans base of the two clubs are so strong the French Interior ministry issued a travel ban for away fans when the clubs meet and police systematically arrest fans in PSG shirts in Marseille’s Velodrome Stadium.

The police said ” there is a strong animosity amongst some residents of Marseille towards the PSG team, in contradiction of any sporting spirit”. The police said that the gathering of more than 250 people took place in Marseille during the Semi Final game of PSG and there were two assaults on the people wearing PSG shirts and ” attempts were made to intimidate them in order to interrupt the broadcast of the match”.
