Bologna have firmly rejected any possibility of losing striker Santiago Castro, despite a formal approach from Saudi Pro League giants Al Hilal. According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the Serie A club never opened negotiations and made it clear that the Argentine forward was “untouchable.”
The 20-year-old striker, who joined Bologna in February 2024 from Vélez Sarsfield, has quickly become an important figure in Thiago Motta’s squad. His physical presence, work rate, and eye for goal have made him a key part of Bologna’s attacking setup as the club pushes to maintain its strong Serie A campaign.
Al Hilal, one of the biggest spenders in the Saudi Pro League, reportedly submitted a formal approach to test Bologna’s resolve. However, the Italian side stood firm and refused to entertain any talks, highlighting the player’s importance to their future plans. With the Saudi transfer window now officially closed, any potential deal is completely off the table.
Castro’s reputation has been growing rapidly, and interest from clubs outside Italy underlines his rising stock in European football. For Bologna, keeping hold of him is seen as crucial in maintaining stability and momentum, especially after their return to European competitions.
