Barcelona defender Andreas Christensen has suffered a new injury setback and is expected to be sidelined for three to four weeks. According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the Danish center-back is currently being assessed by Barcelona’s medical staff, with hopes of returning to action after the upcoming international break.

With the recovery timeline set between three and four weeks, Christensen is likely to miss crucial La Liga fixtures as well as potential European commitments. If his recovery goes as planned, he could return immediately after the international break.

Barcelona manager Hansi Flick confirmed the injury ahead of the club’s match against Real Sociedad. Speaking to reporters on Saturday, Flick revealed:  “We are all keeping an eye on Andreas, he got injured in this training session,” he told reporters. He added, “He was an option for us for tomorrow, but he got injured and we have to wait and see how bad the injury is. We hope it’s not too bad.”

Since joining Barcelona from Chelsea in 2022, Christensen has been a reliable presence at the back but has faced occasional injury setbacks. This latest issue adds to the growing list of fitness concerns for the club.
