Arsenal have signed a new goalkeeper named Kepa Arrizabalaga from Chelsea. The club already has England’s top keeper David Raya but they wanted another main keeper who can be in competition with him. They activated €5 million release clause and sign Kepa permanently.

Arsenal have completed the surprise signing of Spanish goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga from Chelsea in a deal worth €5 million. The Gunners triggered Kepa’s release clause to bring him to the Emirates on a permanent deal, adding more depth and competition to their goalkeeping department.

The 29-year-old arrives despite the presence of England international David Raya, who impressed as Arsenal’s first-choice goalkeeper last season. However, Mikel Arteta is keen on maintaining strong competition in every position, and Kepa’s arrival ensures that Raya will not take his place for granted.

Kepa spent last season on loan but returned to Chelsea after the Spanish giants opted not to make the deal permanent. With limited opportunities at Stamford Bridge under Enzo Maresca, the Spaniard has now found a fresh start in North London.
