Liverpool manager Arne Slot has given an important update on the fitness of his key players ahead of the highly anticipated Premier League encounter against Manchester United. Speaking at his pre-match press conference, Slot confirmed that goalkeeper Alisson Becker will remain sidelined for at least another week, dealing a significant blow to the Reds’ preparations.
“Alisson will not be available this week… he won’t be there next week either,” Slot said, indicating that the Brazilian shot-stopper’s return is still some time away. The absence of Alisson means Liverpool will likely continue to rely on Caoimhín Kelleher between the posts as they face one of their biggest rivals.
However, there was some positive news for the Merseyside club. Defender Ibrahima Konaté is set to return to training, offering Slot a timely boost in defence. “Ibrahima Konaté will train today, whilst Ryan Gravenberch is completely fit,” Slot added, confirming that the Dutch midfielder has fully recovered and is available for selection.
