As the international break kicks off, Argentina have been dealt a blow with three players, i.e. Julián Álvarez, Nahuel Molina, and Giuliano Simeone, ruled out of their upcoming friendly against Angola. The trio failed to complete the mandatory health procedures related to the yellow fever vaccine, a key requirement for entry into the African nation.
According to reports, the players were unable to secure the vaccination within the prescribed timeframe before departure, making them ineligible to travel with the rest of the squad. While the issue is purely procedural and not injury-related, it comes as an unexpected setback for Lionel Scaloni, who had included all three in his plans for the match.
Álvarez, who has been in excellent form for Manchester City, was expected to start in attack alongside Lautaro Martínez, offering a blend of pressing energy and creativity. Molina, a regular right-back for Atlético Madrid, remains a vital part of Argentina’s defensive setup, while Giuliano Simeone, who recently earned a call-up following his promising performances in La Liga, was hoping to make his senior debut.
With their absence confirmed, Scaloni will now have to reshuffle his squad ahead of the Angola fixture. The Argentine coaching staff are reportedly considering alternate options already present in the camp to fill the voids.
