Arda Güler’s rise continues to capture attention, and this season, the Turkish prodigy feels more confident than ever under Xabi Alonso’s guidance. Speaking about his growing influence, Güler revealed how the Spanish tactician has helped him evolve into a more complete and adaptable midfielder.
“This season I feel really important in this team, thanks to coach Xabi who believed in me,” said Güler. “He asks me to control the tempo. If he wants me to score and assist, he plays me as a 10. If he wants me to control the tempo, he plays me as an 8.”
These comments highlight the 19-year-old’s versatility, a key reason behind his increasing prominence in Alonso’s system. Once known primarily for his flair and creativity in the final third, Güler is now showcasing maturity and tactical intelligence well beyond his age.
Alonso’s coaching philosophy has clearly resonated with the young midfielder. The Spaniard, known for his own midfield mastery during his playing days, has given Güler the freedom to express himself while also demanding responsibility off the ball.
