The Boston Red Sox have an open roster spot after optioning Tyler Heineman and Isaiah Campbell and reinstating Connor Wong. A corresponding move seems imminent.
According to Beyond the Monster’s Andrew Parker, the Red Sox are calling up left-handed pitcher Bailey Horn from Triple-A Worcester. Horn, 26, joined the Red Sox earlier this season in a trade with the Chicago White Sox for cash considerations.
In 16 innings over 12 appearances with Worcester, Horn has impressed with a 1.69 ERA and a 1.125 WHIP while striking out 19. This is a significant turnaround from his rough start with the White Sox’s Triple-A affiliate in Charlotte, where he posted an 11.32 ERA in 10 1/3 innings over nine appearances.
Horn will likely serve as the secondary lefty option in the bullpen, following Cam Booser’s recent demotion. This move could provide the Red Sox with some much-needed depth and stability as they navigate the latter part of the season.
