The Minnesota Timberwolves are one of the best teams in the NBA right now. The team has the best record since the All-Star break in the league. Led by Karl Anthony Towns, Anthony Edwards, D’Angelo Russell, and Patrick Beverley, the Timberwolves are gunning for the 6 seed in the Western Conference. With the win against the Milwaukee Bucks today, the Minnesota Timberwolves are just half a game behind the current 6 seed-The Denver Nuggets.

The team took down the reigning defending champions who were missing their superstar in Giannis Antetokounmpo. The Timberwolves won by 19 points and blew the Bucks out at Minnesota. They were led by their 3 young stars in Karl Anthony Towns (25 points and 11 rebounds), Anthony Edwards (25 points), and D’Angelo Russell (16 points and 9 assists). Bench players Jaylen Nowell (10 points), Taurean Prince (14 points), and Naz Reid (14 points) also contributed to the win.

A lot of credit for how the team has performed throughout the season needs to go to Patrick Beverley. While Beverley’s name doesn’t always pop out of the stat sheet, he has brought a culture of toughness and winning to a young Timberwolves team. The Timberwolves are primed to make a playoff appearance this season and Beverley has played a huge role in that.

Karl Anthony Towns has been a game-changer for the Timberwolves as well. While his numbers remain similar to what he has put up throughout his career, Towns has become a much better leader under Beverley’s tutelage. He has been vocal and has also been leading the team by example. In today’s win, Towns broke a Timberwolves record for most points in a 3-game span.

If things continue the way they have been going for the Timberwolves, they could be a dangerous team in the Playoffs. If they do make the playoffs as the 6 seed, it looks like their first opponent is going to be the Golden State Warriors the way the standings are right now. If that is the case, the Timberwolves have a size advantage and Towns can dominate the paint against the Warriors. It will be interesting to see how the team performs in the Playoffs.
