Both Ben Simmons and Kevin Durant have been out of action for a while now. While Kevin Durant at least played a few games before his MCL injury, Ben Simmons has not played a single game this season. The guard is out due to a lack of conditioning as a result of not playing games. The 2 superstars plan on making a comeback after the All-Star break but who will be on the court first?
Kevin Durant injured his MCL on 15th January after his teammate Bruce Brown fell on his leg. Durant tried playing even after that but was then ruled out for the remainder of the game. The superstar has been elusive when asked about his injury status. When TNT’s Ernie Johnson asked him about the injury and if there was any update on his return, Durant answered with a simple, ‘No’.
Ben Simmons on the other hand is making people think if he was the best decision the Nets made. The former Philadelphia point guard is said to have conditioning issues and isn’t ready to play yet. The guard has been seen working out and even practising his jump shot with one of the great shooters the game has seen in Kyle Korver.
While we can only know the truth once they get on the floor there are varying reports regarding the 2 players’ return. Remona Shelbourne from ESPN reported that Ben Simmons plans to ‘Ramp it up in practice this week and plans on making his return in a few weeks. On the other hand, Steve Nash isn’t too positive about Simmons’ return and said that Durant could very well return to action before Simmons did.
With Kyrie Irving unable to play home games, the return of the other 2 stars is extremely important for the Nets to win games. The vaccine mandates possibly being changed in a few weeks will also add Kyrie to the mix. When all three – Kevin Durant, Ben Simmons, and Kyrie Irving – are all on the court, it will be interesting to see how great they can be together.
