Former UFC Lightweight Champion Khabib Nurmagomedov has signed a for the third division Russian football club Legion Dynamo after he announced his retirement from MMA in October of last year. 

Khabib shocked the world when he announced his retirement after the bout with the American Justin Gaethje on Oct 24 with a submission victory. The Russian had come to a conclusion he would not fight anymore without his father in his corner. Khabib’s father Abdulmanap lost his life due to severe complications caused by COVID-19. 

The Eagle had fulfilled the promise he made to his mother, he left the octagon after a blistering MMA career of  29 fights and has won 8 by knockout, 11 by submission and 10 by decision making him walk away from the sport being undefeated since the start of the professional MMA career back in 2008. 

Earlier this year Khabib had revealed that he is open to offers from the football world. His transition to football was not much of a surprise as Khabib is well known for his knowledge of the game and has shown great admiration for Liverpool and Real Madrid in the past. Khabib had also previously tweeted about him preparing for his debut and is “ready to accept offers”.

Legion Dynamo is a third division Russian professional football league team founded back in 2015 and are third in the league table having 2 wins and a draw to their name so far.
