Four-star quarterback Troy Huhn has officially committed to Virginia Tech, he confirmed on CBS Sports on Monday, marking one of the biggest recruiting flips of the 2026 class. The 6’4”, 215-pound QB was previously committed to Penn State, but reopened his recruitment following the firing of head coach James Franklin — and has now reunited with him in Blacksburg.

Huhn originally committed to Penn State in June 2024 and stayed on board until October 16, four days after Franklin’s exit. Ranked No. 309 nationally in the 2026 class (247Sports composite), the No. 21 quarterback, and the No. 37 player in California, he was also one of just 20 QBs selected for the prestigious 2025 Elite 11 Finals.

Virginia Tech offered Huhn on November 17, the same day Franklin was officially hired by the Hokies. The connection was immediate — and the flip happened fast.

“Let it all work out, GO HOKIES!” Huhn told Rivals after announcing his decision.

Huhn was the lone quarterback in Penn State’s 2026 recruiting class at the time of his decommitment. His move to Virginia Tech gives Franklin a major early recruiting win as he begins building his first full class in Blacksburg.
