Max Verstappen showcased his mastery of wet conditions in Montreal as he claimed pole position for the third consecutive Grand Prix. The Dutch driver’s exceptional lap time of 1:25.858 outpaced his nearest competitor, Nico Hulkenberg, by over a second. However, Hulkenberg’s penalty for exceeding the speed limit during a red flag period pushed him down to fifth on the grid for the race.

Several drivers faced grid penalties for impeding others during Qualifying, including Carlos Sainz, Yuki Tsunoda, and Lance Stroll, all of whom received three-place grid penalties. Despite the penalties, Fernando Alonso earned a spot alongside Verstappen on the front row, while Lewis Hamilton and George Russell took third and fourth place respectively in their Mercedes cars.

On the other hand, it was a disappointing session for Charles Leclerc, Sainz, and Sergio Perez, who found themselves starting from the tenth, 11th, and 12th positions respectively.
