Formula 1 has officially unveiled its 2026 race calendar, featuring 24 Grands Prix and six Sprint events, making it one of the most extensive seasons in the sport’s history. The championship will once again run from March to December, with races spread across five continents.

The Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne will host the season opener, taking place one week earlier than last year, while the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix will continue its role as the season finale in December.

A key change for 2026 is the removal of the Imola Grand Prix, meaning Italy will have just one race on the calendar β€” the Italian Grand Prix at Monza. Spain, however, gains an additional round with the introduction of the Madrid Grand Prix, which will join Barcelona as a second Spanish venue at a different point in the season.

Sprint calendar sees new venues

The 2026 season will again feature six Sprint weekends, but with notable changes to the lineup. While Shanghai and Miami remain, several new circuits join the Sprint format for the first time.

Sprint events in 2026:

  • Chinese GP – Shanghai
  • Miami GP – Miami
  • Canadian GP – Montreal (first Sprint)
  • British GP – Silverstone (returns)
  • Dutch GP – Zandvoort (first Sprint)
  • Singapore GP – Marina Bay (first Sprint)

Saturday races and calendar reshuffle

Two races will be held on Saturday local time in 2026. The Azerbaijan Grand Prix in Baku will take place on September 26, following a request from local authorities, while the Las Vegas Grand Prix will again run as a Saturday night race on November 21.

The calendar also features logistical adjustments. The Canadian Grand Prix moves up to Round 7 from Round 10, while Monaco now runs directly before the Barcelona race, streamlining the European leg of the season.
