British racer George Russell signs new long term contract with Mercedes and will partner Lewis Hamilton from 2022

The British racing driver George Russell signed a new contract with Mercedes-AMG Petronas on Tuesday and he will be a team-mate of Lewis Hamilton from 2022.

George Russell, the British racing driver has signed a new long-term contract with the Mercedes-AMG on Tuesday. Not only this, but the British F1 racing driver will also be partnering with Lewis Hamilton from the year 2022. The 2022 season of Formula One will be the 73rd season of the championship. Mercedes has announced officially that George Russell has signed a contract with them on Tuesday and also posted it on the official social media accounts.

The 23-year-old 2018 FIA Formula 2 champion signed with Mercedes by replacing Finnish racing driver Valtteri Bottas. The winner of nine races between the year 2017 to 2020, Valtteri Bottas announced that he will be joining Alfa Romeo Racing after this season.

Because of this announcement of 32-year-old Finnish racer, the Mercedes signed the British George Russell. Russell was signed with Mercedes-AMG Petronas in the year 2017 but not for the main driving program, he joined the side to compete in the Junior Driver program. After returning to Williams in the year 2020 he was qualified for the 18th spot. The 23-year-old British racing driver finished 15th in the 2020 season of Formula One.
