Paris Saint-Germain F.C. may have only just sealed their place in the UEFA Champions League final, but football fans across Europe are already reacting to two stunning records created by the French giants during their latest European run.
PSG booked their place in the final after overcoming FC Bayern Munich 6-5 on aggregate following a tense 1-1 draw at Allianz Arena. However, it was the historical significance behind the qualification that quickly became one of the biggest talking points online.
For the first time ever in UEFA Champions League history, a French club will face an English club in the final. Despite decades of European competition and several memorable knockout clashes between clubs from both nations, the tournament has surprisingly never produced an England versus France final until now.
That was not the only record PSG managed to create.
The Paris club have also become the first French side ever to reach the Champions League final in back-to-back seasons. No French team, including former European champions Olympique de Marseille, had previously managed consecutive appearances in the competition’s biggest match.
The achievement highlights PSG’s growing consistency on the European stage under manager Luis Enrique. Unlike previous seasons where the club often relied heavily on star power, this current squad has impressed fans with discipline, pressing and collective teamwork.
