Paris Saint-Germain and Morocco right-back Achraf Hakimi is set to face trial in France after prosecutors decided to proceed with a rape case linked to an investigation opened in 2023. The footballer has strongly denied the allegations and insists he is innocent.

According to French media reports, the Nanterre prosecutor’s office has concluded its investigation and referred the case for trial. Hakimi is accused of raping a woman at his home in February 2023 after the two reportedly met through social media. The player was placed under formal investigation later that year, a move that allows judges to continue legal proceedings while maintaining the presumption of innocence.

Hakimi has consistently rejected the accusations. In a statement quoted by media outlets, the defender said: “Today, a rape accusation is enough to justify a trial, even though I deny it and everything proves it’s false. This is as unjust to the innocent as it is to genuine victims. I calmly await this trial, which will allow the truth to come out publicly.”

Paris Saint-Germain have previously expressed support for their player, stating that they trust the judicial process and emphasizing the principle of presumption of innocence.
