Karim Benzema has given his verdict on two of world football’s most electrifying wingers — and his conclusion is simple: don’t make him choose.

As per The Touchline X account, speaking recently, the Ballon d’Or winner heaped praise on both Vinicius Junior and Barcelona teenager Lamine Yamal, describing them as players who force you out of your seat every time they touch the ball.

“They are just different. Both killers. They both make you jump out of your chair.”

Benzema highlighted the qualities that make each player so special. For Vinicius, it is his explosive runs from wide areas — the Brazilian’s ability to accelerate past defenders in full flight remains one of the most breathtaking sights in club football. For Yamal, it is his vision and range of passing from outside the area, a skill remarkable for a player still in his teens.

Benzema noted that both players share a key mentality trait — they raise their game when the stakes are highest and are willing to take risks other players shy away from. “Acceleration, risk-taking, big matches,” he said, listing qualities common to both.

The 36-year-old was careful not to fuel a rivalry between the two. “I’m never the one to go for comparisons,” he said — a stance that reflects both his admiration for each player and an acknowledgement that direct comparison between two such different profiles may be beside the point.

“Lamine Yamal’s passes from outside, Vini in full flow from wings. It’s beautiful to watch.”

The comments add weight to the growing debate around who will define the next era of elite football. Yamal, still a teenager, already has a Champions League semi-final and a European Championship on his résumé. Vinicius, a two-time Champions League winner, is widely considered one of the best players on the planet.

For Benzema, though, the real answer is simply to sit back and enjoy both.
