Deion Sanders is making headlines again, but not for any of his usual charisma or coaching brilliance. Recently, the head coach of the Colorado Buffaloes refused to answer questions from a CBS reporter during a press conference, and he also snubbed a question from Denver Post columnist Sean Keeler.

When CBS reporter Eric Christensen tried to ask a question, Sanders dismissed him with, “I’m not doing nothing with CBS. Next question.” Sanders explained that his refusal was due to issues with CBS as a company, not with Christensen personally. He emphasized his respect for Christensen but insisted that the beef was with CBS’s executives, implying that CBS had done something wrong.

The situation with Keeler was simpler: Sanders avoided answering his question due to Keeler’s critical coverage of the Colorado program.

So, what’s the backstory with CBS?

It turns out Sanders’ irritation with the network seems to stem from a past project gone wrong. Phillip Dukes of On3, who has a personal connection with Sanders, revealed in a YouTube video that Sanders was upset over a failed collaboration with CBS. According to Dukes, CBS pulled out of a project they had been working on after Sanders had put in a lot of effort, which left Sanders feeling betrayed.

This situation isn’t entirely new for Sanders and CBS. He previously worked as a commentator for CBS from 2002 to 2004 but left due to contract disputes. Though he returned briefly for some joint projects between NFL Network and CBS, this recent clash suggests lingering tension.

The details of the “project” and when exactly the issues with CBS started remain unclear, but it’s evident that Sanders has strong feelings about how CBS handled their past dealings with him.
