NFL players have been getting their first reps with new teammates at minicamps over the past few weeks, and some are already leaving lasting impressions.

In Philadelphia, wide receiver A.J. Brown has been particularly impressed with cornerback Isaiah Rodgers. Brown couldn’t help but gush over his new teammate’s performance.

“For a guy who hasn’t played football in a year, he’s looking like he’s been on the field nonstop,” Brown said of Rodgers, according to ESPN. “He’s flying around out there, and he’s going to do some special stuff for us this year.”

Rodgers’ Journey Back

Rodgers, originally drafted by the Indianapolis Colts in 2020 out of UMass, spent three seasons with the team before being suspended for the entire 2023 season due to violations of the NFL’s gambling policies. The Colts quickly parted ways with him, but the Eagles saw potential and signed him in August 2023, knowing he’d be benched for the year.

Now heading into 2024, Rodgers is vying for a starting spot in the Eagles’ secondary alongside Kelee Ringo and rookies Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean. Beyond his cornerback duties, Rodgers could also make an impact in the return game.

Eagles fans will have to wait until training camp kicks off in full to see Rodgers in action, but early signs suggest that Philadelphia’s secondary could see significant improvement from last year’s lackluster performance. With Rodgers bringing his A-game, the Eagles’ defense might just turn heads this season.
