Zimbabwe won the toss and decided to bat first against Pakistan’s seaming attack. The 21-year-old Mohammad Wasim Jr. stumbled down Zimbabwe’s batting line striking four wickets in his world cup debut, along with Pakistan’s MVP all-rounder, Shabad Khan with three wickets.

Pakistan restricted the opposition to a mere total of just 130 and the match looked pretty one-sided.

However, Zimbabwe didn’t lose hope. They kept their bowling tight and firm which allowed them early wickets. Pakistan lost their both dangerous opening duo at a low score of just 23 runs. The Pak side still looked in good shape, until Sikandar Raza dismissed Shabad Khan (17) and Haider Ali for a golden duck.

This is where the Zimbabwean bowlers started to dominate Pakistan’s low batting order. No doubt the match went on till the very last ball where Pakistan needed three runs off the last delivery. Raza deserved special appreciation as he collected the ball and threw it at the right end to confirm a win rather than a draw.

Pakistan lost their second consecutive game in the T20 World Cup with a strong bowling lineup but a poor batting performance so far.
