“Yes, we will play in the T20 World Cup,” says Afghanistan media manager Hikmat Hassan

Afghanistan cricket team will be seen in the T20 World Cup. The media manager of the Afghanistan team has announced this while speaking in an interview with ANI.

The T20 World Cup has been scheduled to play from 17 October which will be organized by the ICC. Some teams were yet to confirm their presence in this T20 World Cup. Afghanistan cricket team was one of them. Afghanistan cricket team’s media manager, Hikmat Hassan while speaking to ANI said that they are going to participate in this World Cup.

“Yes, we will play in the T20 World Cup. The preparations are on and the available players will be back to training in Kabul in the next few days,” Hikmat Hassan said while speaking to ANI.


The schedule of the T20 World Cup has been declared by the ICC and the teams which weren’t confirmed or haven’t confirmed yet are mentioned as ‘TBC’ in the fixtures. Afghanistan Cricket team has so started their preparations for this T20 World Cup as said by their media manager. Hikmat Hassan has also informed that the team will play certain T20 games before heading into the World Cup games. Afghanistan cricket team will play against Pakistan and also they are planning to play in their domestic tournament which they think will be good for their players to boost their confidence before the World Cup season kicks off.

“We are already set to play Pakistan in Hambantota and that series is also on. Also, we are planning to go ahead with the domestic T20 tournament which shall boost preparations for the players ahead of the T20 World Cup,” Hassan said.

The World Cup pools have been decided by the ICC and Afghanistan cricket team will be in Group 2 with India, Pakistan, and New Zealand.
